Launching the VPA


The guests were introduced by Dr Steven Kayne Professional Director of the Veterinary Pharmacy Courses offered by Harper Adams University. They included Dr Michael Jepson who was responsible for the RPSGB Diploma course rom its inception in 1981 until he retired in 2004. Also present was Dr Sarah Cockbill who was associated with the course during its transition years.

Dr Kayne thanked Carwyn Ellis, Head of Animal Production, Welfare and Veterinary Sciences at HAU for the valuable support that had been given to the veterinary pharmacy courses and to the VPA. He responded by offering congratulations on the launch, and said, "The University is delighted to be associated with the Veterinary Pharmacy Association. I welcome the fact that VPA support will be available to all veterinary health providers involved in the production and supply of veterinary medicinal products."

Rob Morris, Chair of the RPS Veterinary Pharmacy Forum spoke about the opportunities that existed for veterinary pharmacy and said, “I am delighted that we now have an Association dedicated to veterinary pharmacy. It will benefit interested pharmacists and allied professionals to be involved. The Association aims to promote excellence and education in this specialised field of pharmacy and I look forward to welcoming new members.’”

The VPA was formally launched by Dr Jepson who thanked Dr Alison Pyatt from HAU and Dr Kayne for their efforts in promoting the profile of veterinary pharmacy.
